This shoot was both intimidating AND fun. You see, this lovely mother is a photographer, so I was feeling the pressure. :) But she was great! And really, there was no pressure. She was calm the entire shoot and just let her kids be who they are, so everyone was happy the whole night!The boys were cracking me up with their poses. We'd pick a location and they would just fall into place. Easiest photo shoot ever. I think they've had some good practice. :)

She is doing great, and is so lucky to have such an amazing family to love and take care of her!I'm so happy they are all home together now.And doesn't she look like she's the best big sister!

So, the weather was NOT in our favor for this cute little family. Thick, dark, (actually black) clouds were looming overhead, leaving us with really poor lighting. But we were there, and they looked snazzy, so they decided to shoot anyway. Oh, and did I mention it was cold? Poor short-sleeved girls.But I think this is one good-looking family, and hopefully their pretty faces make up for the high ISO and lack of light...So to work with the circumstances, I played around a bit with this shot. What do you like?

World Senior Games

I have a new found appreciation for Sports Photographers!I was asked to be a photographer for the Huntsman World Senior Games, so I spent last week in St. George photographing different events. I had a great time interacting with the "old folks," and I learned a lot about sports photography as well.Each sport produced different challenges for capturing great shots, including high speed motion, bad lighting (indoor, dim, and flourescent),and on top of that, all shots are straight out of the camera...ZERO editing.But despite the challenges shooting the super fast cyclists, under-water swimmers, and the jumping basketball and volleyball players, I managed to get some shots that I was pleased with, and the athletes were as well. Anytime they saw a picture with their feet in the air, they'd love it and say something to the likes of "sweet action shot!" Because "old men can jump." :) They were fun. Here are a few more of my favorites. Isn't this guy awesome? I was seriously wow-ed and inspired by these senior athletes. They were quite impressive. Some were 55 and looked much younger, and some were 95 and looked just that! :)I loved snapping their picture right after they finished their race.Doesn't his face just say it all? May we all be as energetic as they are when we are "seniors."

This little girl is the sweetest thing! She was awake most of the time, and I loved capturing her pretty eyes.When she dozed off (for about 2 minutes,) I quickly snapped this. Doesn't she look cozy?Seriously, such a sweet, sweet baby. And a beautiful reminder of the circle of life!

Dragonfly

The other morning, my nieces found this dragonfly. I told them they were dragonfly charmers.I thought it was fake because it wasn't moving. At all. And it looked kind of mean. Then all of a sudden it took flight... and landed on a place it liked. Check out the smile on it's face. What a change in demeanor.

5K for ALS

Off topic, but my dad was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) about 4 years ago. There is very little known about this disease and there is no treatment and no cure at this time.

On September 19th at 8:00 a.m. in Holladay, UT they are beginning an annual ALS 5k run/walk to help raise money for ALS research, since it is so greatly needed.

So if you are a runner, or even if you're not, but are looking for an excuse to exercise or donate to a great cause, I thought I'd let you know about this race. No pressure, but I wanted to get the word out since this is obviously near and dear to my heart. Our family will be participating and we'd love to have you join us!
